Iran has rejected allegations that it was behind a plot to assassinate Donald Trump, following the US Justice Department charging a man in connection with the plan. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman called it a plot by Israel-linked circles to complicate Iran-US relations. The accused man claimed he had been tasked by a government official to assassinate the Republican president-elect before the election. Investigators learned of the plot from an accused Iranian government asset who said he was instructed to put together a plan to watch and kill Trump. Two other men allegedly recruited for assassinations were arrested.
