Councillors in Hale, Greater Manchester, have approved plans to erect a series of poles for an eruv, despite over 900 objections from local residents. An eruv is a symbolic boundary that allows Orthodox Jews to carry or push items outside their homes on the Sabbath day. The proposals were first put forward ten years ago and have now been given the go-ahead by Trafford's planning committee.
