Senior IDF officials believe that residents of northern Israel could return home without a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah. The IDF plans to establish a strong presence on the border after completing ground operations in southern Lebanon. This presence would include approximately three divisions. The IDF seeks to retain the freedom to attack Hezbollah infrastructure and terrorists in southern Lebanon if necessary, even without a truce in place.
