Sir Keir Starmer will be the first UK prime minister to mark Armistice Day in France since Winston Churchill. He will attend Armistice Day commemorations in France on Monday and meet President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. The events will pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the First World War. Sir Keir is expected to lay a wreath at war memorials in Paris, and the prime minister has announced over £10m to mark the 80th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day in the UK next year. Remembrance events were also held across the UK on Sunday.
