Elise Stefanik, a New York Congresswoman with minimal experience in foreign policy, has been nominated by former President Donald Trump to replace UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield. Stefanik has gained attention for her support of Israel and her calls for a reassessment of US funding of the United Nations. She has also risen to become the highest ranking woman in House Republican leadership. If confirmed, her appointment would leave open the 21st Congressional District seat in New York.
