A people smuggler who made at least £2m by acting as a broker for smuggling gangs in France is facing jail after his enterprise was smashed by investigators from the National Crime Agency. Pistiwan Jameel, a British national who came to the UK from Iraq in 2002, was suspected of being behind dozens of cross-Channel small boat crossings. He had contacts with people smuggling gangs in France and would broker spaces on boats for his clients while collecting payments in the UK. Jameel and two others are now facing sentencing for people smuggling offences.
