Attacks against the U.S. by Iran-linked actors have increased by 630% since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, according to a report by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America. The attacks include projectile strikes, maritime aggression, cyber intrusions, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks. Iran-backed groups have targeted U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria, as well as U.S. naval vessels targeted by Houthi terrorists in Yemen. The report suggests that Iran may escalate attacks on U.S. forces to pressure Washington to exert pressure on Israel. The report does not include recent attacks against the U.S. in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.
