The Israeli Navy has acknowledged its involvement in actions against Hezbollah, including the destruction of installations and commanders. The navy has also been involved in surveillance of distant enemies. The IDF revealed that the navy carried out the attack on senior Hezbollah aerial unit commander Ali Barakat on November 3. The navy has also destroyed Hezbollah's naval headquarters in Beirut and struck sites holding rockets with long-range capabilities. The navy has played a significant role in defending Israel's maritime borders and strategic sites, as well as providing intelligence for preemptive strikes by the air force.
