EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has proposed suspending the political dialog with Israel over concerns of human rights violations in the war in Gaza. Borrell cited serious concerns about possible breaches of international humanitarian law and stated that these concerns have not been sufficiently addressed by Israel. The proposal, which requires approval from all 27 EU countries, is unlikely to pass. The UN Human Rights Office has condemned what it called a systematic violation of international humanitarian law in the war. Israel has rejected the accusations and stated that its actions are in accordance with the principles of distinction and proportionality.
