The governors of Illinois and Colorado have formed a coalition of mostly Democratic-led states to resist policies proposed by incoming President Donald Trump. The group, called Governors Safeguarding Democracy, aims to fight against conservative Trump policies on issues such as immigration and environmental protections. Trump has promised to use federal law enforcement to investigate his political opponents, carry out the largest deportation effort in American history, and eliminate diversity programs in colleges and universities. The group was formed to protect and strengthen democracy at the state level.
