Dr Adnan Al-Bursh, a famous orthopaedic surgeon, died in an Israeli prison after being taken from Gaza hospital during the conflict. He had spent his career fixing broken limbs and bodies at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital. As war broke out, he worked tirelessly, even digging mass graves when the hospital ran out of space. He documented the desperate scenes on his mobile phone. Dr Al-Bursh was detained by Israeli forces and taken to a military base, where allegations of physical, mental, and sexual abuse were made. He was later transferred to Ofer Prison, where he died shortly after arrival. The cause of death was not provided by the Israelis.
