The meeting between Abram and Melchizedek in the Bible teaches the importance of learning from others and adopting new perspectives. Rabbi Meir'l of Przemyslany suggests that a true meeting should inspire new understandings and fresh approaches. Abram and Melchizedek were both righteous people with different focuses, but they learned from each other and adopted elements of the other's ethos. Melchizedek, a cloistered priest, left his sheltered lifestyle and offered bread and wine to Abram upon his return from battle, internalizing the value of Abram's sacrifice for others. Abram, in turn, learned the value of study from Melchizedek. The meeting between these two righteous figures changed them and taught them the importance of interpersonal relationships and personal spiritual pursuits.
