Ben & Jerry's lawsuit accuses parent company of censorship over Gaza

Ben & Jerry's has filed a lawsuit against parent company Unilever, accusing it of silencing the ice cream maker from expressing support for Palestinians in the Gaza war. The complaint alleges that Unilever has violated its contractual obligations by threatening to dismantle Ben & Jerry's independent board, sue board members, intimidate personnel, and censor the company. Unilever has rejected the claims and stated that it will strongly defend its case. The lawsuit comes after Ben & Jerry's decision in 2021 to halt sales in Israeli settlements, which was not supported by Unilever.
