Italy has protested to Israel after an unexploded artillery shell hit the base of the Italian contingent in the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani spoke with Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar and expressed concern over the attacks against its personnel and infrastructure. Saar has promised an immediate investigation into the incident. The UNIFIL mission, stationed in southern Lebanon, monitors hostilities along the 'blue line' separating Lebanon from Israel.
