Millions of bees are killed daily by cars on the highway, a recent study conducted by Utah State University (USU) revealed. The study found that as many as 4.9 billion bees could die in one 6-month bee flight season due to vehicle collisions. The USU Department of Biology conducted an experiment where sticky traps were attached to car bumpers to collect data on bee deaths. The study highlights the need for roadside habitat management to create safe spaces for bees and protect their populations.
