Police refuse to prosecute over swastika sent to Jewish students

Police refused to prosecute a man who sent an image of the Star of David intertwined with the Nazi swastika to Jewish students and activists, deeming it not offensive enough. The incident was classified as a non-crime hate incident (NCHI) by Cambridgeshire Constabulary. This comes as Essex Police investigate a Telegraph columnist over an alleged Islamophobic social media post, which is being treated as a suspected criminal offence. Thousands of NCHIs are being recorded, including one against a nine-year-old who used an offensive term. NCHIs stay on a person's police file for six years, or longer if the recording force decides to keep it.
