Ukraine has been given permission by President Biden to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles against Russia in response to Russia's decision to bring North Korean troops into the fight. The missiles, called Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), are likely to be used in defense of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of western Russia. The Ukrainians hope that by using the missiles to strike key Russian and North Korean military targets, they can help blunt the joint assault and potentially trade Russian territory for Ukrainian territory in future negotiations.
