Britain's domestic energy price cap is expected to rise by 1% in January, according to analysts at Cornwall Insight. Wholesale energy prices remain high due to geopolitical tensions and weather disruptions. The price cap is set by energy regulator Ofgem and takes into account wholesale energy prices, network costs, and environmental and social levies. The increase in the price cap follows a 10% rise for the October to January period. Cornwall Insight forecasts that the cap will fall slightly in April and again in October next year.
