Thune warned that if the current Democratic leader does not take action, the Senate Republican majority will prioritize passing sanctions legislation in the next Congress. The ICC issued applications for arrest warrants against Netanyahu and others for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in May. The US does not officially recognize the ICC's authority, but the Trump administration previously opposed the court's actions and imposed sanctions on ICC prosecutors.
