Ex-Canadian minister Irwin Cotler was allegedly targeted in an assassination plot by Iran, according to reports. Cotler, who is Jewish, has been under 24/7 protection by the RCMP since a 2023 Hamas attack against Israel. He has been an outspoken critic of the regime in Tehran and has represented Iranian political prisoners. The RCMP informed Cotler of an imminent threat of assassination from Iranian agents, but the threat level has since lowered.
