Archaeologists have discovered the remains of an 18th-century Portuguese colonial city hidden beneath the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. The city, previously known only from historical maps, was uncovered using advanced LiDAR technology, which revealed its layout under the forest canopy. The discovery offers insights into the region's colonial past and represents a significant advancement in Brazil's historical knowledge and cultural heritage. The project, called 'Amazônia Revelada,' combines modern technology with traditional knowledge from indigenous communities. The team plans to return to the site to further explore and understand the city's significance.
