Middle East Airlines (MEA) has become a national hero in Lebanon since Israel's recent invasion to battle Hezbollah. Despite the bombings rocking Beirut, MEA has continued flying, making it the only commercial airline still operating in and out of Lebanon. MEA has a history of resilience, having flown through previous wars and conflicts in the region. The airline's persistence has given Lebanon a sense that it is not wholly cut off from the world. However, some Lebanese are exasperated that the airline's resilience obscures generations of trauma.
