The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, but the ICC has jurisdiction over individuals who commit war crimes within the territory of a state party. The Palestinians joined the statute in 2014, allowing the ICC to extend its application to Israelis. In February 2021, the ICC ruled that the prosecutor has the authority to investigate alleged war crimes in Palestinian territories.
