JDC brings its Jewish humanitarian values and expertise to address the challenges of endemic poverty, food insecurity, and lack of healthcare. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) runs women's empowerment programs in the developing world, including the Ubuntu Beekeeping Initiative in South Africa, which teaches women how to keep beehives and start their own honey-selling businesses. JDC also supports the TOV agricultural development program in Ethiopia, which helps small farmers increase their crop yield and income through Israeli technology and training. In Haiti, JDC works with Partners in Health to provide essential healthcare and support to pregnant women and their babies.
