War-torn Sudan is on a 'countdown to famine' as world leaders ignore the crisis, according to the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). The NRC chief warns that humanitarian aid is only 'delaying deaths' and not preventing them. Nearly 26 million people in Sudan are suffering from acute hunger, with 1.5 million on the edge of famine. The NRC says that the violence in Sudan is tearing apart communities faster than aid can be provided.
