A kayaker in Tasmania has had his leg amputated after becoming stuck between rocks in the Franklin River. The man, in his 60s, was partially submerged when the incident occurred and a 20-hour rescue operation was launched. Despite multiple attempts to free him, his condition deteriorated and his leg was amputated to facilitate his rescue. He was airlifted to hospital and remains in critical condition.
