Indians living in Nigeria anticipate a rise in bilateral trade, particularly in sectors such as defence, finance, power, steel, pharmaceuticals, oil, and gas. They also hope for changes in the resident permit system, cheaper visa fees, and a direct flight from India. Additionally, the Indian community seeks the acceptance of Indian rupees in Nigeria, the removal of Nigeria from India's list of high-risk countries, and the resolution of taxation treaty issues. Many Indians in Nigeria were disappointed that Modi did not visit Lagos, where 80% of Indians reside.
