Barclays has been fined £40m by the FCA for its 'reckless' Qatar fundraising, in which it paid hundreds of millions of pounds in fees to Qatari investors. The bank did not inform the market or shareholders of these matters. Barclays' fundraising efforts were closely scrutinized after the 2008 financial crisis, but charges against the bank and three former senior executives were dropped. Despite disagreeing with the FCA's findings, Barclays has decided not to appeal the fine.
