Between October 2023 and June 2024, there were 12,400 pro-Palestine protests in the US, compared to 2,301 pro-Israel events, according to a study by the Crowd Counting Consortium. The study found that the US is a strong ally of Israel, resulting in fewer pro-Israel events. Most pro-Palestine activities did not take place on campuses until April 2024, when Palestinian solidarity encampments began to appear at colleges. The study recorded 9,295 arrests at pro-Palestinian protests, but concluded that the movement has not been violent. However, other reports have documented incidents of violence and intimidation by pro-Palestine protesters.
