Police in Melbourne are on high alert after a second attempted child abduction in broad daylight within a fortnight. A 14-year-old schoolgirl was approached by a stranger in a white van who asked her where she lived and told her to get into the vehicle. The girl managed to escape and ran to a nearby park. The man drove away but was later spotted driving in the opposite direction. This incident follows a similar attempted abduction of an 11-year-old boy in Melbourne's east. Police have released a computer-generated image of a man they want to speak to in relation to the latest incident.
