The Movement for Quality Government has filed a motion for contempt against Justice Minister Yariv Levin after he failed to summon the Judicial Selection Committee to elect a new president of the Supreme Court, in contravention of a ruling issued by the Supreme Court. The organization has requested that the court sanction Levin and conduct a discussion on the matter. Levin argues that choosing the longest-serving member as chief justice is not always applicable and prefers a more conservative choice. The movement has called Levin's actions a serious violation of the rule of law and the principle of separation of powers.
