Six-time British Superbike champion Shane Byrne has won a High Court claim over the 'catastrophic' injuries he suffered during a race in 2018. Byrne collided with a barrier after coming off his bike, resulting in fractures and internal injuries. He sued three sports bodies, claiming the barrier was insufficient and caused harm. The High Court ruled that the bodies were liable for Byrne's injuries, stating that the collision with the barrier was the cause. The judge determined that if a type-A barrier had been in place, Byrne would not have sustained such serious injuries.
