SPHERE, a scientific body in Israel, is working on a project to promote better health and prevent chronic diseases among Jews and Arabs through education and active projects. The project, initiated by the Russell Berrie Galilee Diabetes SPHERE, aims to reduce disparities in obesity and morbidity in diabetes. The project has been successful in decreasing diabetes diagnoses in the region. SPHERE is directed by endocrinologist Prof. Naim Shehadeh and is supported by the Berrie Foundation and the Azrieli Faculty. The project focuses on adopting a healthy lifestyle, losing weight, and taking medication for prevention.
