Kurds and other minorities could be threatened in Syrian conflict

Many wheels are in motion in Syria, which could leave Kurds and other minorities exposed. The surprise attack by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham on the Syrian regime in Aleppo reflects the weakness of the regime. Kurds, who historically suffered under Assad's regime, have found themselves empowered but also threatened. Turkey accuses the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of being linked to Kurdish groups it has fought against. Varying agendas in Syria have put minorities at a crossroads, leaving them vulnerable regardless of what side they choose.
