The UN has suspended aid deliveries through the main Gaza crossing, Kerem Shalom, due to violent thefts by criminal gangs, which have become the main obstacle to distributing supplies. Recent incidents include an attack on a convoy of lorries carrying food and the blocking of the main road leading away from the crossing by a notorious criminal family. Aid workers and locals have also alleged that armed men operate within plain sight of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a restricted zone at the Israel-Gaza border. The pause in deliveries follows the death of three people employed by a food charity in an Israeli strike on Saturday.
