Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes on Syrian military assets and seized strategic positions, taking advantage of the disarray in Syrian command structures. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted over 350 strikes, destroying an estimated 70-80% of Syrian strategic military assets. The IDF has also moved ground forces into a demilitarised buffer zone in Syria. Defence Minister Israel Katz has instructed the military to establish a sterile defence zone in southern Syria without a permanent Israeli presence.
