An independent rescue group is working to extract journalist Austin Tice and other Americans still in Syria following the downfall of the Assad regime. Grey Bull Rescue founder Bryan Stern believes Tice's situation is dire, as he may have been left without food or water for the last eight days. Stern and his team are dedicating their resources to finding Tice and bringing him back to the U.S. Tice, a Marine Corps veteran, was kidnapped in Syria in 2012 while working as a freelance journalist. The situation is growing urgent as the risk of others discovering Tice or his location going unfound increases.
