Former All Blacks fly-half Andrew Mehrtens is part of a consortium looking to acquire multiple rugby clubs across the world, potentially creating a shared ownership model similar to the City Football Group. Mehrtens, along with Formula 1 entrepreneur Eddie Jordan and ex-South Africa No 8 Bobby Skinstad, recently took a controlling stake in French second division side Beziers. The group, backed by private equity firm Strangford Capital, is interested in acquiring other clubs, including former Gallagher Premiership side London Irish. Mehrtens believes shared ownership could bring efficiencies and benefits to rugby clubs.
