Wayward Fare Explores the Deep Mediterranean Pantry

Wayward Fare is a new restaurant in Brooklyn that explores the flavors of the Mediterranean pantry, offering dishes like roasted local porgy and vegetable dumplings. F&F Restaurant and Bar in Carroll Gardens has transformed from a wine bar to a more polished extension of their F&F Slice Shop, serving classic and inventive pizzas, salads, pastas, and more. Entre Nous in Clinton Hill boasts a spacious wine bar with a cellar of 3,500 bottles, offering French specialties like oeuf mayonnaise and céleri rémoulade. Libera, located in the Ace Hotel, is an underground enclave serving well-researched wines and tinned seafood, spreads, charcuterie, and cheeses. Peck Slip Social in the South Street Seaport offers over 100 whiskeys and a menu inspired by Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Fomo Momo, a popular momos food truck in Jersey City, has opened a compact dining room in the East Village, serving Indian fusion dumplings and Northern Indian sandwiches. Edith's Sandwich Counter in Williamsburg has expanded to the West Village, offering a variety of grilled sandwiches and iced cafe slushies. En Japanese Brasserie in the West Village is closing after 20 years, and Contento in East Harlem is closing due to financial burdens and the effects of the pandemic. Frog Club, the replacement for Chumley's, has also closed after less than a year. Gertie, a Jewish diner in Brooklyn, is offering Hanukkah catering boxes with latkes, sufganiyot, and blue-and-white cookies. Maison Passerelle, the fine-dining restaurant at the upcoming Printemps retail complex in the financial district, will be helmed by executive chef Gregory Gourdet. The East Village Cookbook and Hatch Valley Green flakes from Flatiron Pepper make unique holiday gifts. Via Carota Craft Cocktails are now available in single-serve bottles.
