David Bonderman, co-founder of private equity giant TPG, has died at the age of 82. Bonderman helped transform private equity into a multitrillion-dollar industry and was a key figure in reshaping corporate America. TPG is one of the biggest players in alternative investments and has minted many fortunes. Bonderman had an estimated net worth of $6.7 billion. He stepped down from day-to-day management at TPG about a decade ago but retained the title nonexecutive chairman.
