President Joe Biden has commuted 37 out of 40 federal death sentences, including that of former New Orleans police officer Len Davis. However, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Dylann Roof, and Robert Bowers will remain on death row. Biden campaigned against the death penalty and issued a moratorium on its use at the federal level. His decision will not impact those sentenced to death in state courts. Biden has also commuted the sentences of nearly 1,500 people and pardoned 39 more convicted of nonviolent crimes, including his son Hunter Biden.
