An Amsterdam District Court has sentenced five men involved in violence that occurred during a football match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv. The riots, which caused international outcry, resulted in injuries to 5 people and minor injuries to 20 others. The court handed down sentences ranging from 6 months in prison to 100 hours of community service. The violence was condemned as anti-Semitic and damaged Amsterdam's reputation as a tolerant city. Six more suspects will have their trials at a later date.
