Asma al-Assad, the wife of deposed Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, has been given a '50/50' chance of survival due to her leukemia diagnosis. She has been isolated and kept from others to prevent infections or contracting other illnesses. Asma's father, Fawaz Akhras, has been caring for her in Moscow and is 'heartbroken' by her condition. Asma was diagnosed with leukemia in May, almost five years after recovering from breast cancer. She and her family fled to Russia after being overthrown in December and she has reportedly filed for divorce and seeks to move to London.
