Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least nine Palestinians, bringing the weekend death toll to 97, according to Palestinian medics. The strikes targeted a house in the Nuseirat camp and an area in Jabalia. Israeli forces have been operating in the northern edge of the enclave for three months. The Israeli military said it had attacked over 100 targets in Gaza, killing dozens of Hamas militants and destroying rocket launching sites. Mediators are working to reach a ceasefire before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on 20 January.
