Jewish groups welcome, establish priorities with new Congress

Jewish advocacy and political organizations are engaging with members of Congress to discuss priorities for the new session. The American Jewish Committee's political team is reconnecting with members and staff to address concerns such as combating antisemitism. The team is also meeting with new members of Congress to explain the role of the AJC. Legislative priorities include reevaluating the Antisemitism Awareness Act and determining how the Department of Education will enforce Title VI policy. The AJC is also considering how Congress can support regional integration and Israel's place in the neighborhood through the Abraham Accords. Jewish Federations of North America is focused on combating antisemitism and securing increased Nonprofit Security Grant funds. The Jewish Institute for National Security of America is engaging with members of Congress on Middle East priorities, including legislation to rein in the International Criminal Court and addressing delays in defense article deliveries to Israel. The key priority for Congress and the incoming Trump administration is dealing with Iran's nuclear program.
