Austria's far-right Freedom Party (FPO) has been asked to form a coalition government, marking the first time a far-right party has been tasked with doing so since World War II. President Alexander Van der Bellen invited FPO leader Herbert Kickl to form a government after a centrist bid collapsed. The FPO, which won last year's parliamentary election, will now enter talks with its only potential partner, the conservative OVP.
