A Shein representative declined to answer whether the online retailer uses cotton from China during a hearing with a British parliamentary committee. Shein, which is awaiting regulatory approvals for an IPO in London, faced questions about its supply chain and labour rights. The company's general counsel for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) asked for permission to write to the committee about further questions. Shein has previously stated that it requires contract manufacturers to only source cotton from approved regions and has a zero-tolerance policy for forced labor.
