Peter Yarrow, one-third of the hit-making 1960s folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary and a Jewish activist, died at age 86. Yarrow wrote the music for the group's best-known composition, 'Puff, the Magic Dragon.' He was a supporter of the Israeli left-wing group Peace Now and promoted Israeli-Palestinian coexistence. Yarrow served three months in prison in 1970 for taking 'improper liberties' with a 14-year-old girl. He was pardoned by President Jimmy Carter in 1981. Yarrow is survived by his widow and their two children.
