Shamima Begum, an ISIS bride currently held in a Syrian detention camp, could be freed in the coming days after the camp's guards faced attacks from Turkish airstrikes and the new government of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham. The Kurdish-led Syrian Defence Force running the camp may release all prisoners if they feel unable to defend the camps. The UK has refused to repatriate Begum or any other UK-linked ISIS members held in Syria, despite a request from the new US administration. The UK Foreign Secretary has stated that Begum is not a UK national and will not be allowed to return.
