Indonesia's foreign minister announced plans to strengthen defence partnerships and address strategic issues affecting its sovereignty, including maritime security. The country will continue to advocate for a code of conduct between ASEAN and China on the South China Sea and prioritise ASEAN's centrality. Indonesia aims to complete talks on free trade agreements and expand international trade with non-traditional partners in Africa and the Pacific. The foreign minister also reaffirmed Indonesia's support for the Palestinian cause and called for a ceasefire and accountability for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
